I bought a 422 cam and borla headers from another forum member. I am going to buy a set of new bare casting heads, probably 95TM and have larger valves installed. Also on the wish list is 1.8 roller tip rockers. I want to covert to coil on plug ignition using the edis as the controller. With the coil packs gone I can route the intake for the M90 supercharger over the engine. I know the M5OD transmission won't handle the abuse, so I am working on swapping in a T56 6 speed. The van has a 3.55 rear end, I kept the 4.10 axle from the last van. It will get an explorer disc brake swap then installed. The bushings are shot on the upper control arm, I found a nice solution. A watts link for an 05-14 mustang and an adjustable upper control arm can be adapted. I'm still parts shopping but in my mind I've worn the tires off 3 times....

what are you going to control the fuel mixture with?i doubt the ford ecm will work for this.or going with a carb?

3.0 or4.0?let us know how difficult it is installing the t56.id love to have another overdrive gear.
4.0L. I have a T56 from an 03 mustang cobra sitting at my parents house just waiting for a project to be put into. Is your van a 3.0L?

yes

im pretty happy with the 3.0s power.i was surprised how strong it is.i just hate turning 3000 rpm at eighty.i mean id like to have a 5.0 in it but its my daily driver so i need good gas mileage.

What kind of mileage are you getting? I have no experience with the 3.0. My van with the 4.0L M5OD trans and 3.55 rear gets 22-24 mpg on average. With the T5 and 4.10 in the last van I got 19-20 when I kept my foot out of it. That van ran great on E85 when the weather was cold and got better economy than regular gas.

17-18 but i drive it like its a mustang.after all it is a sport....

I upgraded my account so I could post pictures. The cam and headers arrived last week, I bought a sohc oil pan. I still need heads, transmission adapter plate, and the watts link.

Hay pal any of those new vans you bought awd allium drive shaft. Still need one.

What I still need is a transfer case for the awd but I have an alumn drive shaft. I found a guy on eBay he has 10 new ones in the box with shipping $400. He's from Texas and $300 plus the 80 ship. If you have one a transfer case I'll take it. And I have steel running boards with the steel mud flaps from dz I'll trade you. There on the van in the photo I posted when I first joined. I took them off because you can't get under the van unless your up really hi and I want to turn it into a Westfiela. I hate getting rid of it. I'm waiting on a hearing. Since I have md and cancer I use morphine on a regular 4 hour shot. There concerned about my driveing. I bought so much new stuff. I never installed the lift, the multi battery charger oscillator, I have a new hi lift jack straps,I also have 2 generators 5,000 and 1,700 watt. All I'm missing is rims so I can buy 15" tires and you have a awd camping van like a vw. I have a usmc exstream 4 season tent knifes ect...

I must have copied the wrong number when I went on line I typed in v8 swap kit with headers for ranger. I got 4 lists advance adapters has motor mount plates, motor mounts,a compleat exhaust system,(and a side note saying these headers will fit kit) the at the bottom of page is the number I thought which has everything. I threw the cat in the trash on tue after looking at it.

Trans dapt v8 ranger swap kit with headers $419.
82-97 ranger 2wd 289-302
Trans dapt #9716k
Part # 969-9716k
I copied it down and retyped it. Hope I did it right

Looking at those headers, the drivers side would not work easily. The passenger side header would be an easy fit with 2 of them. On a 302 the starter is on the opposite side as the 4.0l. Motor mounts are best to be made, the rubber pads like the 2.9l ranger with a simple 1/4 inch plate steel mounted to the engine. You won't find a swap kit that would work off the shelf. I have a good 302 out of a 97 explorer I got for free cause the person thought the motor threw a rod. I was buying the transmission attached to it. I ended up getting another transmission cause it was the problem not the motor. Once I am done building the current van I will find a mint awd to V8 convert.
