here's where i had mine installed but i will be moving them to the a pillars next year. They sound really good there but i think the highs would sound a lot better in the a pillars but because of the speakers i have the magnets are big so i have no choice. These are Hertz mlk 165's by the way:

Very nice those are the exact speakers im getting what amp do you have? Im gunna run the JL Audio HD900/5. Is there any place that makes pillars with a place for a tweeter for a 02 explorer ?

How are your kick panels ? dont your legs get in the way of the sound at all?

the theory behind them is the sound is equal from both sides. your legs block the sound if the speaker is in the door. with kick panels, they are more aimed upwards at you, and the sound loss it less. so i have heard, but there is a big difference between them and door speakers.

Difference being better ? I had kick panels in my old probe and hated them but it was also a manual so the drivers side one was kind of in the way

when i compare my 98 sport with my 07 ranger front speakers, there is a noticeable sound difference in sound. the sport (with the kick panels) has the sound coming at you, where the ranger, the sound it just there. it is a little tight around your left foot, but there is still some room.

Just ordered my Hertz MLK165's today :) I think imma have a shop do some custom work to my a-pillars and put my tweets up there! when i get it done ill put a pic up!

FML just found out the Hertz I ordered are knockoffs so here goes a ebay dispute! thank god for buyer protection!

Does anyone know about how much it would cost to have a shop customize your apillar with fiberglass to house a tweeter? I dont think it would be a whole lot to do but not sure

on one of the forum the guys there were saying that the Hertz on ebay coming from Malasiya selling for $300 were not legit! I wont truely know until i get them and call hertz with the serial #s tho

well if you were getting the mlk 165's for $300 i can say they are probably fakes. Hertz is made in france so........

Yeah i figured if they are ill just have to start a dispute with ebay they are usually good about that stuff. If not its only $300 so not a big deal. But if i do take a loss i may have to downgrade to the Diamond Audio S600s i had those awhile back and liked them. But only time will tell :)

How difficult was it to mount the front tweeters? I thought about mounting them in the same location but thought there wouldn't be enough room on the driver's door. Thanks and Merry Christmas!

I have a pair of Boston acoustics SR60 6.5's for the front and 6.5 alpine type s components for the rear. Still currently sitting in my old 93 Eagle Talon. Im torn on front speaker locations. The rears are definitely going in the doors.
I have a buddy looking for his old kick panels from his 94 ranger that happen to be the exact color i need. I dont know if i should use those if he finds them or put them in the doors. And I believe these kick panels originally came from a 97 Ranger so they will fit.

Oh once I install them there will be pics ill add.
