Sorry bout the image size, kinda big.
Tell me what ya think :D Also what kind of cheap things can I do to improve performance? Things like the K&N air filter, which I already have gotten.

I think it looks good, might want to be go over the pillars on the tailgate with some paint.

Are those plastic / plastic coated? They have some stuff that brings the 'black' back to flares and such...

Nice looking Ex. Normally I'm not big on gold trim, but it looks good with the white paint. Now go get it dirty! :D

Badass! Are you thinking about adding a brush guard?

Here is a pic of my Ex

i dunno ive been thinkn bout it, do u like yours pretty well?

Looks really nice, I like it. As for the cheap mods, go with an exhaust. Mine is 2.5". Some say that is a little big for the 4.0, but it seems great to me. Maybe try 2.25". I got a performance muffler from Checker for $30, a ten foot piece of pipe from a wholesaler and paid a guy at Meineke $20 to bend it and weld it. I wanted Borla or Flowmaster, but this was a lot cheaper and I'm happy with it.

and this improves performance? Also with the brush guard will it still fit after the the 3inch body lift?

lol well its currently in the shop having to get some wiring redone since the body lift f'd it up :( but they already fixed it and im pickn it up tomorrow :D but i need ideas for more performance ideas

cmon guys need ideas about mods i can do for performance boost. What kind of gains could I get with some type of exaust system? I already have a K&N filter...

have you dont the torsion twist and shackles yet? if not you could gain up to 2" additionally and it's actually suspension. then get bigger tires on a 10" rim......(drool)

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. Yes, the exhaust will improve performance. You're K&N filter is helping to get more air into the engine, the exhaust will help get it out. I don't know the exact numbers, but I've seen adds that say that you can gain 20hp. I have never dynoed my explorer, but I can tell you it gave it a little more umph, and the throttle response was quicker. Plus it sounds tougher.

Also, is your K&N a drop in or a conical filter?

i guess my K&N filter was just the drop in. It took like 2 minutes to put in. Cost me around $40 bux...lol so u tell me which one it is...As for Dignan thanks for the info ! any other suggestions would be cool! what about like intake or w/e ?

The drop in is an improvement over stock, but a cone shaped filter is going to give you even more air. Before I got my conical filter, I cut some holes in the airbox to allow more air in. (make sure it is on the correct side so you don't suck in unfiltered air) I started with a few one inch holes, but ended up cutting it more and more until it was basically an open frame to hold the filter in. :) I got a conical filter from AutoZone for like $25 and it works and sounds great.

ya the filter is a cone shaped filter. I just opened up the box switched the filters and thats it. After a while i have to buy the refil kit or whatever
