Pillar Trim Removal

Does anyone know how to remove the exterior pillar trim on an 02 Explorer? The paint's been peeling on mine for a while and I'm going to try painting them. I figure I can't make it look any worse and it sounds like people have had good luck with going this route. I'm just wanting to remove them to make painting less stressful. Any advice? Thanks.

It's my understanding that most of us that have done this simply mask and paint while on the truck. That's how I did it and as with anything, prep is the key to good results. I sanded them with wet/dry sandpaper to smooth them and remove crap. I then gave a light coat of primer, let dry, then paint.

Getting the weather stripping masked is the "hardest" part, but just take your time, listen to some tunes while you work and enjoy it.
