I'm a newbie to the forum but, wish I had been here much longer. I have an
'01 Trac with 115,000 miles on it. It has gone from being a daily driver to a tow vehicle for camping on the weekends we can get away. (the 05 focus just gets better mileage)

I've noticed (for a few years now) that when the RPM gage hits 2500, I get a pinging sound in the engine. Just like it was spark knocking. It'll do it with 87 or 93 gas. If I give it more gas the sound will go away but, if I'm slowly accelerating, the pinging will hang around through the gears shifting right when the rpm's get to 2500.

Anyone seen this. The only time I noticed it going away was when I had the battery disconneced for a time while I was installing a brake controller. It sort of quit for a few hundred mile but it's back now and I've been running 93 gas in since I've been towing a 4,400lb camper around NC and parts of SC.

Thanks
