I bought this yesterday, waiting for it to come in. I want it to get installed as soon as it comes in but I want them to install a DVD player too. Any DVD player should work with this system, correct? I know about having to bypass it etc...

Also, what are some good indash single din dvd players? I was lookin at a few real quick on ebay:

Any help is appreciated! Thanks

should have just bought the avic n1 ... it has navigation and dvd player

o0o my fault...........shouldve checked out the ecplipse tvs..their expensive but supposed to be really good.......

you should hook up your PS2 and use it as your dvd player so you can watch dvd and play games all in one :)

I wanna do that too. But I have a double din part and a single din part. (this topic is about my H2 really...) The nav is going in the double din (duh) and now I need something for the single din. First I was thinking just a tray to hold whatever, but that'd be a waste of space. So I thought I'll put a dvd player there instead of in the center console for the back seats and save that for a PS2 or something. Only thing is, I'm having a hard time finding an in-dash dvd player that would look nice with everything else and give that stock look.

I was looking at the Eclipse's, but it's too much. I read reviews on this one and it's supposed to be good aswell (except for no DVD playback) although it does have 2 cd slots, 1 as a cd player, the other for the dvd navigation

if the d1 is the same as the n1 you can plug a video in, as in a dvd player and just go into the nav menu or hit the nav/av button and you will be able to switch different modes. and also, if it is the same, the navigation bit kinda sucks, cause u have to have the nav dvd in for it to work the right way  so thats why im just gunna get another dvd player as well.

do you guys know if Avic-d1 or Avic-N1 or N2 would feet to Explorer 04 Limited.

Any of those will fit. The D1 is double-din and would look the best. There are other double-dins that will work from Kenwood and Eclipse as well.

How did you mount the radio in the dash?

I have a D1... all the wiring is done, but I'm questioning the best way to mount the radio!

Hey,

I have avicd1 and it's the best thing head unit. Ill try to post some pics installed asap.

bypass the head unit? I assume you're talking about dvd/navi while driving mod? I did that a while back, works great (just wish that nag screen would go away when you turn it on!).

I've owned the D1 for ~8months and love it, but just installed it into the explorer yesturday. it's all wired up, but just sitting in the cutout. I'm still thinking of a good way to mount it. Also what did you do to fill the gaps on the sides?

Pics would be great! If you cant post them here, email them to me directly. blitzk@tampabay.rr.com

Thanks!

Get any pics yet?

...anyone else have an AVIC-D1 installed?

If the links dont work just tell me ill try to get them up some were.

I got the ones you emailed me... thanks!!

Is that the plastic bracket/sheild thing that came with your d1? the one with mine is fatter on the top and bottom... too fat to fit in it, and it still leaves gaps on the sides

Do you happen to have any pics of the mounting bracket/cage?

I'm still not sure how you actually have the mounting of it. The mounting cage wont fit in my dash (though I could probably cut the dash, if needed)...

Go to your local hardware shop and get brackets that are easy to bend but strong enough for movement. I will try to get some pics. Oh yeah the bracket was the one that came with the D1. In order to make it fit i had to squeeze the top and bottom and it fit right in.

Pics of the brackets would be great... also, how did you mount the GPS antenna? I tried putting it on the roof and running the cable in the front windshield weatherstrip, but it wouldn't go into that groove and made a bulge in the weatherstrip. I don't think I'll be putting it that way.

I'll also be installing a SIRIUS antenna, and might put an XM up too...

OK, so I got the mounting bracket to go in the slot... took a while, but it just fits...

For now I just put the GPS antenna way back (foward?) on the dash and routed the wire behind the dash. I'd rather it be outside, but it seems to work on here for now.

I'd still like to know your method of trim around the radio. I'll keep looking for now.
