Just Purchased the ipod adapter.

1. do the wires need to be hooked up to a constant (always hot)?

2. if not, can they be spliced in with radio power and ground?

3. looking to mount the adapter in the center console out of the way, has anyone got any pics of install?

thank you

i apoligize if this has been posted allready, all i found was pioneer gps units with ipod control.

I think that's the one I have with my Z2...but I'm not sure. On mine, you have to have it powered up constantly...and a ground. Then you use the IP Buss cable. That's it for power and control.

I have all my accessories in the center console. It uses up some space, but it was neat, clean and easy to do. I fastened everything with Velcro. Very nice install.

x2 on the constant power. i also have mine in the center console, but, it is hidden under the cup holder so it can not be seen. the only thing i have to do to get it out is just lift up the cup holder because it just snaps into place.

so im going to guess its ok to splice into the constant from the radio? or did you run your own live wire? only wondering because they dont give you alot of wire off the adapter, and debating if i leave the adapter behind the radio (assuming theres enough space) and just run the plug for the ipod to the center console.

Well, on mine, I tapped into the aux power outlet in the console. It was easy to get to, close to my adapter, and wired for a heavy current flow. It seemed a no brainer to me. I also grounded it using that circuit. I also powered my USB adabter and XM Radio adapter there. Everything is on it's own separate fuse. They've been flawless so far. But if you are really worried about overloading the system, just pull the leads off the power outlet so it can't be used. I'm not worried...all those units combined don't draw much.

i used the constant power from the radio. it was there, and the close. i also was able to mount the box for in beside the radio, there was enough room. it has been there for 2 years and i have not had a problem even when the heater is running full blast in the winter time. if you look at the picture you can see the grey pioneer box mounted on the right. I'm not to sure how much room there is for a 04, but there should be enough room there to tuck it in there.
