Pipe Size

I hope this doesn't double post.

I'm looking to order parts to play with the exhaust on my '00 Mountaineer 5.0 AWD.

Does anyone know offhand what size the exhaust pipes are just in front of the secondary cats?

My plan is to cut them out and run something different on back.

So if I cut the secondary cats off, a 2.5" pipe will slide over what's left?

2.5" will slide over but it will be too big to clamp. You need to use 2.25" tube with the end expanded for a slip fit. Weld or clamp it to keep it in place. If you want to upsize to 2.5" you will need to buy or make a transition piece.
