- 2003 Ford Explorer XLT
Hello all. I know you guys are seasoned Ford guys & I am not. I lost oil pressure the other morning. After light came up, worst fears were realized when I saw a hole where my timing chain guide had broken & let the right chain scrub through the timing cover. I got my stuff back together with the advice of a true Ford tech. It crank the first rollover of the engine. Ran pretty well too. But here's the problem when it is in lower rpm's or going uphill with a load it has a miss & seems to get worse from there. I had it checked because this happened every so after before the work I did but never ever this bad & always went away. The codes were misfire during startup, #2 misfire detected, #2 injection circuit malfunction, & idle control system (higher than expected),the later which did happen one time since I did the work. What I have done is change the #2 coil pack & spark plug. It didn't help, should I pull the injector & check/change it or is there another direction one of you guys know of. I really appreciate it in aadvance because I'm not doing well financially. The specifics are : 2003 Ford Explorer XLT with 4.6ltr. & 4X4. Oh & before anyone has to ask. I put all new parts back in my Explorer & went by everything in the shop manual except setting the timing which I had an actual 16 yr. Ford Technician check & watch over because he says timing can be catastrophic if done wrong. Thanks again.
