Here is my situation... I bought some factory fog lights for the wife's truck and the center bezel with the factory switch. (Her 2001 XLS did not originally have fog lights.) Anyway, I did this same thing with my old Mustang and had no problems. Once the switch was installed and the lights were mounted, all of the wiring was already there and everything worked. On her truck, I can not find the wires (pigtails?) that actually plug into the back of the fog lights themselves. Where are they? As I said, on my old Mustang, they were there. Could someone please take some pics or describe where the wires are? If they are not there, does anyone have a set (I need both sides obviously) they want to get rid of cheap? Everything is installed and this is the last piece of the puzzle. I will worry about mods to keep them on with the parking lights later. Right now, I just want to be able to turn them on. Thanks in advance for your help. I am glad I found this forum. I also have a Jeep and I know that those on that forum are more than happy to help each other. I am sure it is the same way here.

I just installed fogs on a 2000. The pig tails for the fogs aren't there. You're going to have to run your own wiring. Most of the wiring for the fogs aren't there. The only thing mine had was the pigtail for the switch. But of course without the rest of the wiring for the fogs it was useless and I had to run my own wiring.

I was afraid of that. Can anyone help me find the wires I would splice to get them working? There are no wire bundles that close to the fog lights anyway, and even if there were, I do not know which wires in the bundles to actually splice into. I really want the factory switch to work correctly (illuminate the amber block when the fog lights are on) rather than just rig it up to operate the lights. Where might I get a wiring diagram or guidance that would tell me where the correct wires are in the engine compartment? Another thing I just noticed this evening: does the fog light switch back light when my parking lights are on? I am not talking about the amber light indicating that the fog lights are on, I am talking about the green backlight. The rear defogger switch and rear wiper switch do back light with the dash lighting and I htought the fog light switch would too, but mine doesn't. Thanks again.

I think briwayjones just said there are no wires you can connect to. You have to run new wires. You will have to use a volt/ohm meter to find the correct poles on the OEM switch to use it unless someone else has done that. In the FAQs are wiring diagrams. Follow them and you should be OK.
