Good to see a fellow South Carolinian on here man! I'm down in Charleston.
I actually am expecting my RB lift in soon as well- 2.5/1.5 and need to start looking for tires too.
The general consensus I've gotten is 265s fit and 275s fit with some trimming.
Anyone know the real deal from experience?

Stick with the 265s I have a 03 eddie with spacers and the 265 even rub at full turn, 285s would rub like crazy..:exp::exp::exp:

Thanks any other opinions because I think 265 would look to small :(

You'll need to have a body lift in addition to the RB spacer lift to fit 285's. The only option is the 3" Performance Accessories PA-883 (for '98 - '00 Ranger). You need 5.5" of lift to clear 285's and turn them side to side without rub.

I have 5.25" of lift in the front and my 285's rub at about 90% turn...that extra .25" you would have over me should let them clear the entire way.

Man I thought for sure I had seen someone with 285s and a rb lift. I think is was a burgundy ex with a fx4 sticker on it. It just doesn't make sense how 265 will fit with no lift but 285s won't with a lift? Lol

I guess it really depends on your definition of "fitting". If you mean will the 285's fit on the truck so you can drive in a straight line, with a 2.5" lift...sure. If you plan on turning the wheels much? Nope.

Look at my Before & After page in my signature. I put my 285's on right after I did my 3" body lift...I could hardly turn them 50% without rub, and that's a 3" lift. When I stuck my 2.25" RB spacers on, I achieved almost a full turn each direction.

A 2.5" lift is not going to be enough for you to turn 285's. Doing the body lift before the RB spacer lift is advisable, it makes the spacer lift go in much easier.

The term "285" is just the width of the tire, has nothing to do with the diameter. Your aspect ratio (the middle number...ie 70/75) is your overall size which is relative to the width. In order to fit 285's (they are wide...), you will need to lift the truck more than 2.5" to be able to clear the fender/wheel wells.

What rims are you putting these on. Hopefully not stockers... You need to have something with a negative offset to compensate for the added width.

Thanks man. My plans were to use 17x9 kmc HD hoss wheels or the 17 inch stockies. I wonder if 265s will look too small? Also I'm not going to be taking this off road so I might not be using alot of turning radius

yeah good luck waitin on your RB:P

The 265s dont look bad thats what im running now.. Like I said even my 265s rub when turning.. Unless you plan on doing the body lift as well stay away from the 285s..

Thanks guys and on the rb lift; Ben has answered all my email and I even got a tracking number from ups today saying they have been shipped

thats good news.
