Hey guys,
I am doing a basic tune up in the next few days on my 97. I was wondering other then plugs and wires what else should i replace while im under the hood. I got a new air filter a few days ago so thats good. And also what plugs and wires would you suggest i get? Im not looking for power or economy but if i get another mile or 2 to the gallon that would be cool. Im just wondering what all of you would suggest i get.

Thanks

If the fuel filter has never been changed or it's been a while I would do that with the tune up. It would also be a good idea to clean the MAF. Also a treatment of Seafoam is a good idea. I recommend that you get Motorcraft plugs. Any decent set of wires will be fine. I usually try to get 8mm wires. I have a set of Summit Racing wires on my truck and they seem to be decent wires for a great price.

Ok, what do i clean the MAF sensor with and where would i get sea-foam

You can clean the MAF with either nonresidual electrical parts cleaner or there is actually a cleaner made specifically for cleaning the MAF (probably just over-priced electrical parts cleaner). You can probably get Seafoam at most auto parts stores. I know for a fact that the Autozone near me sells both MAF cleaner and Seafoam. Also, for the Seafoam treatment I recommend using it by adding some to the gas tank and running some through the brake booster. But I personally would not add the Seafoam to the oil like it says on the can.

Would it be ok to clean the MAF and IAC with No Residue choke and Carb cleaner?

Don't forget to check/replace the PCV valve.
