I was working on my 94 Mustang today and I thought I'd show you guys it's polished Explorer intake. I did this back in 2009 I think and I swore I'd never do another but after looking at these old pictures my EX would look good with one.

I made a Plexiglas cover and made vinyl decals that are on the bottom side.

And the elbow I use on the Mustang.

Holy smokes! Talk about a TON of work to get that finish.

Not even sure I can imagine that hours it had to have taken! Easy to see why you'd said "never again".

Yeah, I think my hands still hurt from that...LOL

Good job! I once polished a dual-quad tunnel ram for the 460 in my '74 Ranchero - mostly by hand. Never again.

Yikee Momma! That is one fierce lookin' engine bay! How often do you go through a set of tires with that screamer?

That took some time...

It almost looks chromed.

Did you finish seal it with anything to keep it from turning again?

Thanks guys.

You would not believe the problem I have with rear tires on my GT. It must have a bent frame or the rear is not located properly because the rear tires are always wearing out before the front. :D

No, I never use anything but polish or car wax on polished aluminum. You would be surprised at how long a finish will last when you get it perfectly smooth and don't drive it in the winter.

I just took this picture 10 minuets ago, not bad for 7 years.

I just installed new fuel injectors yesterday and haven't put the intake plate back on yet but I might go with an aluminum one. My Plexi cover is just starting to show it's age and the vinyl is shrinking from the engine heat.

No Chit Mon!

Doing internal polish job with mild port on my upper and lower.

Lower already Powder Coated. Doing my upper as soon as I can make a frame to hold it stable while its in the oven.

On upper I'm going Eastwood Platinum with all the ribbing Semigloss black.

On the top plate the 5.0 background will be Ford Blue with raised letters as Semigloss Black.

Should be good for at least 20hp.

You can use polyurethane clear, it takes a little of the shine off though.

Sometimes people add the tiniest bit of blue tint to a clear coat to give it a chrome look.

I didn't put anything on the tunnel ram I polished. I just kept it polished with Mothers. When I replaced it with the experimental 3x2 intake, I had the 3x2 shot with clear which yellowed over the years where the intake got the hottest.

Yup, Years ago I tried high temp clear on an intake and it yellowed so no more clear for me.
