Poor radio reception

On my 2000 explorer I noticed a couple months ago he reception is bad. I checked its plugged in the back. Is the antenna wire go directly from the radio to the anntena on these.

check to make sure your antenna base is grounded.

Ill have to pop the hood and look dont know how easy it will be to get to it.
