I have a 2015 Explorer and about a month ago we started hearing poppin/grinding noise when we steer the wheel. It happens one to three times in either direction. Had my mechanic look at it and he said everything was fine. However now the wheel has a visible shake. It seems like this is a huge problem in this vehicle as I have seen a dozen or so other posts at different forums. Only each person seems to be getting billed over 2k at the dealership and the noise returns or doesn’t go away all together.

If the wheel itself is visibly shaking you should be able to jack it up and find the play. You may find you have two issues, like a bad wheel bearing and a failed CV axle.

Tire out of balance?
