Popping noise from front end whioe turning

My 05 explorer sport trac , is making a popping noise when turning . Mostly right turns . I lifted the truck and noticed the sound coming from. The left CV joint going into the , what i think is the rack and pinion.. it is located on top of the front axle. Is that the rack and pinon ? And would I need to change that out or is it the just the CV joint.

The Tie rod ends (for steering) go into the rack and pinion

Cv axles usually go bad after one of the boots develop a hole or rip and all the grease is flung out. Do you have any rips in your cv axles?
If not they can also just wear out.

Turns out the inner tie rods are the problem. I'm going to replace them . Do you happen to know how to go about changing the lower control arms with the the torsion rods . Do you need a special tool to replace them ?

It was the inner tie rods .
