i replaced the stock shocks with some monroe shocks, (that's all i know about them my parents replaced them and i just received the vehicle) but when i hit a bump or sometimes when im turning i get a weird popping sound. i can also feel it under my feet. ive looked and nothing seems to be loose or out of place. anyone else have this problem?

EDIT-- this is popping under my feet by the way.

No, don't have the problem. But you should look at the ball joints, sway bar bushings, and control arm bushings to start with.

If the mountaineer has around 100k or above you likely need upper & lower ball joints and possibly sway bar links. You can easily see a broken sway bar link by looking but the ball joints will probably take someone who does alignments/front end work to tell you.

thanks guys. my ole girl has about 226k on her right now. ill check them out tomorrow in my turf management class at school.

+1 on the ball joints.

I'd bet on the sway bar end links. But with that mileage.......could be a lot of things. If not the end links, I'd be looking at ball joints next.

If it is happening when you hit a bump with ONE tire (or alternatelly with the tires, but not exactly in the same time) or in turns, the sawy bar links are worn out.

+1 on sway bar links, ball joints and general front end. I had the same issue. I swapped everything out with raybestos professional grade and monroe sensatracs on Loki. Cowboy has ranchos with a addaleaf in the back and im thinking about going that route because i like that ride quality. Also make sure your shocks are tightened down just to be sure.
