I have been getting my explorer into tip top shape lately and I was coming back from the junk yard with a Class III hitch which I repainted and looks like new. When I hit 2,500 RPM, I was getting a very loud rattle sound. I removed the MAF and sprayed it with the proper cleaner. That worked when I first got my explorer. It is still there, but not as loudly. I don't know if it is engine ping or just something loose like a heat shield.
