So... I've got some inheritance money coming, and I'm considering trading in the '05 V6 2WD XLS.... for an '05 V8 4x4 Limited black on black.
Any issues I should be aware of on this model, or is it all the same stuff I'd run into on my XLS? (That gear in the diff's "whine of death" for one)
Any known electrical issues?
I know the compass is displayed in the message center, but does it have exterior temp? Also, does it have an auto-dim interior mirror? (Was going to add one to the XLS, but if it's not needed on the Limited, it's just money I'm out.)
I have an odd mod that I've been wanting to do for a while, but I don't know if anyone else has tried this... I want to put the export (OZ, UK, Japan) tail lights on mine. I'm figuring cut the high filament wire to the red, tie that into the 3rd brake light, then run the turns off the front. I also want to put the '06 outside mirrors (with defrost, puddle lamps, and "?turn signals?") on it too. Looks easy enough as what I've read here it seems those are plug and play to the 3rd gens. But has anyone see either OEM or or after market mirrors like the 4th gens that have the convex in the corner? (Had them on a 2011 Escape I drove for work, and liked them)
And then there's a real crazy idea...
So I have a set of black heads and corners for my XLS, that I haven't used since I moved from Texas. I was fooling around online and found these what look pretty dang decent LED headlights from JW Speaker:http://www.jwspeaker.com/products/headlights/?filter=LED#product=100126
If I could make these work, I'd be happy.
