Possile Starter Out

Hey everyone. Have an '03 EB and it died at the gas station. Ran great there but failed to start for the return trip. At first, none of my panels came up when I tried the ignition. Previous owner had installed an xm radio system but left the wiring dangling behind the glove box. The wiring fell down shortly after I purchased the vehicle. Now it could be coincidence but when I jiggle this wiring, my panels and stereo came up. Vehicle could not be jumped, just heard the familiar and derpessing machine gun like click of the starter. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Starter or electrcal system? I have heard both. Thanks in advance!

Did it respond to a jump start attempt?

Did it make one big click, or the rapid succession for clicks? IF it was one big click/thud sound it could be the starter or the engine mechanically seized(this is unlikely since you just drove it with no problems). If it was still rapidly clicking, the jumper cables could have not had a good enough connection or there is a poor connection at the starter.
