I haven't been on in a while and don't know what there is for this subject, if there is something just say so and ignore this thread.

I'm looking for some power additions for my 04 XLT, something that i can do at home and doesn't drain the bank yet still gives results. Any suggestions?

v6 or v8 ????

there are tones of threads on this, but i love talking about them over n over lol...

im lookin for the same thing. i have a v8 though.

I'm sure most of the mod's would be the same for v6 or 8 but a different model probably. I'm just thinking of cold air intake and possibly a chip if there is one. i have exhaust now but it isn't a power difference that is noticable

CAI, Custom Tune, UDP's, and if you have the money, supercharger

airbox mod gave my 92 a bit more AHH
lol (a noticeable chunk of acceleration) even my gf said it felt faster, she didnt know what i had done

a CAI would compliment your exhaust well

what kind of exhaust do you have ????

i noticed alot more TOP END POWER when i got my exhaust done...

******************************************************

and INTAKE will help you with a FEW HP and better your acceleration...

UNDER DRIVE PULLEYS will help acceleration also and free up some parasitic drag, giving you a FEW HP...

SCT TUNER could get you anywhere from 10-20 HP and really wake up your X

IGNITION - coil packs / wires / plugs will give you a smoother running X

these will help you achieve some good power gains... hope it helps

i put a universal magnaflow on mine and didnt really see any performance changes.

that would explain why you didnt notice any performance gains...

a muffler will NOT give you more HP/TQ... just sound...

you need to get LARGER PIPING to notice any performance gains from your exhaust...

CAT BACK w/ 2.5'' pipe ( v8 = 3'' pipe ;) ) and a 3'' tip ( v8 = 3.5'' tip )

better sound and power in the UPPER RPM'S !!

I have the 40 Flowmaster. I didn't drive it much before i put it on. Sorry i'm not up to date on abriviations, what is a CAI? lol

CAI = Cold Air Intake

i was in the same boat as you once fella ! lol !!!

ok that makes sense i was overthinking haha!!! wow.... any particular brand?

for u...

KKM is your best bet ?????... not to many intakes for the 04-05 model...

ok i'm doing my research. I hate buying without checking things out ya know? I'll look into some different things.

3" is too big for the V8... you'd lose too much backpressure... 2.5" max.

magnaflow will add a lil power...very less restrictive then stock muffler.

KKm :thumbdwn:. K&N all the way

i know 3 people at my fire house with 4.6 v8's w/ 3'' pipe to 3 1/2 '' tips on there trucks... i thought it would apply here... ?????

also O YEA !! K&N for sure !!!!! i have one ! :), but K&N doesnt make a INTAKE for thr 04-05 models... he has an 04...

for us with 02-03's they do...

I think 3" is too big for a v6 for sure but could get by on a v8. i really don't think it would be that noticable

You can run them, but I wouldn't ever suggest it or encourage it.

Tip size doesn't really matter because it's at the exit point.

K&N absolutely does make an intake for the 04-05; they were the first to make one

You start to lose torque once you start going over 2.5"
