My problem is the Power distribution Box 95 Ford explorer 4.0 the fuel pump replay. Once in a while on my truck will not start but if I open the power distrution box and unplug and plug back in my fuel pump relay the truck will start.

How do I fix this problem where the replay plugs in at can I replace that, or do have to replace the hold Power distribution box? And if so I does that come out.

Thanks for any help in advance..

Try spraying electrical contact cleaner in the socket for the relay, insert and remove relay a couple times to help remove any corrosion.

What do you actually think your problem is? get a meter and find out, then you likely be able solve your problem relatively easy.

I did that I got some electrical contact cleaner and sprayed in the socket a few times I thought I had fixed the problem and a few week later the same thing. But thanks for your idea.

Well the meter will not do me any good since the problem only happen like once in a while and when it does it is either night or some way I don't have access to a meter. The solution would be to take out the socket and replace it with another socket that bring me back to square one which I was asking how to do?

That might be the solution but you could be doing a lot for nothing.... because you don't actually know what your problem is... you only have a "symptom"... you don't know if there is no voltage / no ground, a broken wire going in... you don't know. Surely a meter (and a flash light) isn't the "biggest" thing your truck can carry around... I guess you leave your spare tire at home... :-) Good luck though, playing around with a relay/fuse block is always fun. I guess the last question is have you tested / replaced the relay???

Well think of it this way if it NEVER started then it could be a ground or wire, but it ALWAYS starts in fact it did it again this morning, after it had been sitting over night, this time I check the inertia switch to see if that had been applied, the switch was down. So I unplug it and plug it back in the truck started up, so what that is telling me that it is a FUEL problem, fuel pressure problem by unplugging the inertia switch or the fuel problem replay
it is resetting it and then it is getting fuel pressure.

Now for the trick is to find out what is causing that???? I have replaced every replay and clean the contact, and clean the contact on the inertia switch and it seems to only do this in warm or hot weather?

OK ... so now you have given more information... you just added that unplugging the inertia switch (and I assume replugging) allows you to start the vehicle... IF I understand you correctly. IF this is true, "screwing around" with the fuse / relay box ain't going to solve your problem since the inertia switch isn't any where near the fuel relay/box. As I was saying, you need to carry around a meter to find out what you are up against. Then you will likely find your issue.

'95 Explorer Fuel Relay Copntacts in Power Distrib. Box

I have some empathy with your diagnosis - my '94 Explorer has burnt or corroded contacts where the FP relay plugs in and 'jiggling' of it is often necessary to achieve a start (if I can't hear the fuel pump run when I turn the key then I take this action). But sometimes just putting on the aircon seems to draw enough current that it breaks the circuit to the FP relay. I know that my problem is a badly corroded socket and need to replace it....

Are you sure it is the fuel pump relay? The reason I ask is I had the exact same problem on my '95. It would work fine for weeks on end, then all the sudden it wouldn't start. Take notice, the next time it does this, if the check engine light is on. If it is not on then go under the hood and lightly tap on the top of the power dist. box and see if you hear the fuel pump run. If you do, and i would bet dollars to doughnuts that it will work, you need to replace the power control module relay. I would just replace all 3 relays. What happens is the coil inside the relay tends to get weak and will act like this at times. Eventually the relay will fail all together and you will need to replace it anyway.

Just for the hell of it give this a try next time this happens and I am pretty sure this will solve your problems.

Good Luck!!

What it turn out to be was the crank sensor under the bottom of the truck, I had already replaced the fuel pump replay and that was not it. But thanks it works fine now.
