2000 explorer sport
hello all i have a question for you. My mom has a 2000 explorer sport and door locks have stopped working the remote stopped unlocking them and the driver door sometimes wont unlock with the key. also the inside switches dont work so my mom has had to unlock the passenger door with the key and then reach over and lift the driver handle to unlock the driver door. Im not sure what could be going on anyone run into this problem before? thanks any help would be appreciated.

Not sure on your problem though. Maybe a loose wire somewhere in the driver's side door. The controls in it are the master for the rest of the vehicle. If they go out, the rest don't work either.

i have this problem too. the door actuators have siezed. i have yet to replace mine though...

not really enough info ("door locks don't work").... try all the buttons including the cargo one and listen at each door for "noise".... that will narrow down the problem a bit. IF there are "noises" at each door, then the "electrical" is working and you have a mechanical problem (lots of posts on linkage problems). IF there is no noise at any door, then you have an electrical problem either a broken wire going to the relays in the cargo area or maybe in the door post (most likely the drivers side). IF you are having problems with the key at any door (including the tailgate), then its a mechanical problem.

if its mechanical linkage problem

i found on both my 98 explorer front doors that the linkage from the outside door handle to the latch was a bit loose. This allowed the inner rod that connects from the handle to the door lock-latch to sag which for some reason jambs the lock unlock mechanism. If you lift up on the door handle linkage rod just enough to take up the slack, the lock and actuator may work fine (magically). I rigged a short spring between the lower rod connection eye and the inner door handle to always take up the slack, and the door works fine.
