was putting an aftermarket head unit in my explorer today...decided to take a break and go in for some food. upon trying to lock the door with the remote it just humms.

tried locking it with the drivers door switch and the rear cargo switch and the same thing happened.

the humming is coming from behind the passenger rear side panel

its a definite hum, like the sound of your wiper sprayer pump when you hold it on as opposed to a relay click

any thoughts on what could be doing this?

thanks

you connected up the wrong wires to your headunit and it showing up on your ford amp in the rear passenger panel???

dont think thats possible i used the power harness (rectangular) for the old head unit and ran new wires to the bypass harness.

it ended up being a blown 30 amp maxi fuse under the hood. Still not sure what caused it to blow but the humming was the sound of the module working i suppose.

Im guessing the module has a built in relay so the trigger current was still working (door lock buttons, key fob, rear lock button etc) but it didnt have the supply current from the front to pass on to the locks, seats and windows.

glad you found.... still confused though, the rap module and lock stuff is on the left hand side cargo area (driver's side)...????????

my bad i meant the humming is coming from the drivers side.

the passenger side i had all apart to do the amp bypass.

all is fine now although im having some strange issues with my dimmer switch
