'91 Explorer XLT
So... I'm a newbie in the whole Explorer business. By no means am I some sorta mechanic... but I do love my truck! I own a '91 Explorer XLT 4x4. My dad kicked me out of the house some time ago and a friend's father seeing me in a desperate need (my Grand Am was in my dad's name so he kept that crap... nice guy, eh?) my bestfriend's dad gave me his old '91 Explorer that he had sittin' out for a couple years. I just had to take out the radiator and get it fixed... now I got me a powersteering problem. I dunno whether it'd be better to go get it fixed professionally or to do it myself. Problem is I'm not sure whether it's a leak or the power steering pump itself. If any of you've had this sort of problem or can just help me out with what to do, I'd be really appreciative. Thanks. :navajo:

*Edit*

Symptoms: when it leaks I freakin' have to totally wrestle with the wheel just to make simple turns down the road. Yah, I been keepin' extra power steerin' fluid in there. I've decided to take off and check the hoses leadin' in and outta the powersteering pump. Anywho, thanks for the returned comment.

I'm sure somebody could help, but it might help US if you would say what kind of symptoms/problems it's having. What exactly is it doing? Why do you say there's a problem?

Thanks for the comment...

And dude... the modifications to the Bronco are craaaazy... I really wish I had the know how to do this stuff. That is so freakin' awesome, man. What other plans do you have for it?

is it making a whine? were is it leaking from? if its the metal high pressure line it could be as simple as a teflon washer.

like crazynavajo said.. do you know it's leaking? if it is, can you see where the leak is coming from? it's very possible it's a simple fix.

where is it leaking? I recently did a lot of work on my '91's pump, so if you can figure where its leaking from, I can probably tell you how to fix. Is it slinging fluid?
