I've pulled the engine to do the rear timing chain and I managed to leave the power steering pump in the vehicle when I did it.

The hard line going into the pump is tightened down tight, tight enough that I can't get it off, but the hard line going into the pump will spin.

Is this normal or did I advertantly do something to this line. I would like to undo the fitting and look at it, but I can't get it off. It doesn't seem like it was leaking before so I'm hoping this is normal.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Generally, you have to remove the pump from the vehicle in order to remove the lines. Having said that, yes the "high pressure line" is difficult to remove but you just need two wrenches of the proper size and some leverage. And yes it does "spin" a bit.

The picture below is a different pump, but yours should be very similar. you can see that you have two hexagonal fittings to put a wrench on. The smaller hexagonal fitting is what disconnects [the high pressure line] from the pump - the larger one contains the "relief valve" or "flow piston" - which you do not want to remove so do not unscrew the larger fitting.

Well, I have the truck running again and the loose ps line is holding just fine. I guess there is a pivot built into the fitting.
