Has anyone heard about the "Power Trax No Slip". I was shown one out of the box and it seems like a real solid unit. Its made by the company that made the "Lock Rite". I don't want a complete locker in the rear, but want more than a limited slip. I have spoken to several off road mechanics and they all like it. Only one mentioned that using the Power Trax with large tires (bigger than 33's) can cause problems. It is supposed to be much more positive than a limited slip (400% more if you believe the company that makes it), yet let go enough on the street so it doesn't drive you insane clanking and chirping. I was told that it makes noise on the street, but nothing compared to a Detroit. I know of some Jeepers (I know I said a bad word) that have them and have had no problems they didn't create trying to do their own installations.

Does anyone have it installed?? If so,........................?? Or, do I have to be the first victim??

Do a search on it. There is a lot of threads about it already. There are at least 5 people that I know on the board that are running them.

So far I have been really happy with mine. You don't notice it on the street unless you really get on it in the corners. You need to learn to drive a little different with one.

Something to remember when you have a locker anytime you start spinning it will want to pull you down hill, so in snow you need to be careful. Once you learn what it does it's not that big of a deal.

I have heard some people say there's pops but so far ours does good.....

 






Michael and Gjarret have them as well. I rode on a couple trails in Moab in Michael's explorer, and was impressed enough by the NoSlip that I bought one for mine as well. You can hear the tires chirp a little bit in sharp turns, but its nothing to worry about. I will be having mine installed in the near future.
 






Same comments as with the others here so far. It is definitely a locker not a limited slip. Definitely have to adjust your driving style.

I have not had any problems with mine. It has been great. Some people have installed it at home and said it was fairly simple. I don't have the skills, tools, or the knowledge so I had mine installed.

There is a new unit from TrueTrac (i think) that operates like the ARB, except it's electric. If you're interested in another option, that's going to be about $600 when available.

I heard about it being simple to install as well, but I need to replace the spyder gears too. I have a friend in the business who can install the whole deal for $125.00. The Power Trax in a completly rebuilt track lok carrier are costing me about $300.00. Is that a good deal?? My friend manages a 4 wheel store and he says that is wholesale with no markup. Oceanside Driveline wants $400.00 for the Powertrax only, plus $50.00 to rebuild my carrier, plus $110.00 to install, so I think its a pretty good deal.
 






Sounds like a good deal.
As you can see by my elete picture, we have used ours a lot in the few last months and it is holding up fine.
I didn't put mine in either since I changed gears at the same time. I know Gerald did his and he said it wasn't all that bad.

Ditto and ditto ditto ditto. You can click on "Gerald's Truck" in my signature line below and toward the bottom of my article in the second post read about the NoSlip.

With no gear experience or special tools my total install time would have been less than two hours, but I left a thrust washer in and had to back out of the install to remove it and then start over. Now that I have done one I could do the next one in an hour no problem. Follow the directions and it is a piece of cake. You don't need to replace your spider gears, you remove them. There are no spiders in a NoSlip diffy.

Performance has been more than I could ever have expected and its street manners are every bit as easygoing as claimed. Within the first week after the install I forgot it was even back there on the street.

$300 is a fantastic price. I shopped the entire country and the best price I got was $375. Go for it.

I ll back what everyone else said. The unit works great- it is a locker though and drives like one. You WILL need to adjust your driving to take that into account. The unit works great though.

I installed it myself took a couple of hours- most difficult part was refilling the diff with fluid(I have to get a cover with a fill hole- this behind the pinion stuff is frustrating!!!) - and I had a broken pinion shaft bolt! My recommendation get the new bolt from Ford it was $2 and a new one should be installed if it is removed. It is a special shouldered bolt with some locktite on it from the factory so I dont think youll find it at most parts stores. The No-Slip manual was easy to follow step by step...

I was looking at the paperwork for one today and it seemed that the spider gears are removed. Is there any part left inside the limited slip carrier that I should replace while I'm in there?

It appears that the carrier is not even removed so there is no adjustment necessary. I've decided to do it myself, if I can rebuild a chevy 12 bolt diff, I figure I should be able to handle this. I can use the lift rack at my work on the weekends. It will save me $125.00, making this a pretty cheap install. I have heard mixed recommendations about fluid weight, what does everyone think? ProGear and Oceanside Driveline says 90-140 for the rear, the rest of the shops all say stick with the stock recommendations. I like the idea of a heavier grade oil.

I am also thinking about a pre-load differential cover. Is it going to do any good or is it a waste of cash?
