Power window issue...

I've read through the other problems but mine seems to be a little different...
My passenger side window will roll down, but will not roll up... I tried from the driver's master button and the passenger door button, neither work... this leads me to think it's not the buttons... but I ran a wire from the motor to the battery and it worked... so my window is up now...
What could be the cause though?
Ok so I found another thread that had the same issue, there issue was a broken wire in the door... how do I check them?
 






To check the wires in the door jamb boot, you pull the boot back and examine them, or use a multimeter to check for low ohm resistance/continuity from every two relevant points in the circuit using a wiring diagram like the one I've attached below.
