I was wondering if anyone ever installed the powerslot slotted rotors on your explorers. Its the same ones that explorer express and performance products sells. Im thinking of getting them for my 98 sport. Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks.

i dont have them but they are good....Xs have a major problem with skinny rotors and excessive heat buildup....most of the time this warps the rotors and causes undo stress on the other parts of the braking system.

These things are great. Recently replaced mine because a bad caliper caused the pad to ruin one of them, but they served me for about 40,000 miles warp free, when the sockers wouldnt last 10.

Fantastic rotors go for them. At one time I think there was a group buy for these, dont know if its already over or not though.

I also have them on my 1993 and I agree, they are really good. I have the pads from Explorer Express also. They are a little noisy when stopping fast, but they whole combo stops better than my OEM rotors and pads. Mike

Group buy

YES there is still a group buy for this kind of rotor. In fact it is for ART rotor and pads. Go to the group purchase forum under slotted rotor for more info.

Stephen, I would hope a set of rotors would last more than 40,000 miles!?! And the stock rotors lasted you 10,000 miles? Maybe something else was wrong with the brakes because even thin stock rotors should last longer than that. And for the price, the ART rotors had better last more than 40,000...

It wasnt normal wear. I had a caliper stick, casuing metal to metal contact on the rotors. One was scored so bad it had to be replaced, so I just replaced the set. They would have lasted forever.

Just thought I'd throw my $.02 in; I just put the ART slotted rotors and carbon fiber pads on my Explorer (front only at this time) last week. They are great so far; they stop very well when wet and pedal effort is somewhat reduced compared to stock. I've done a couple of 65-0 stops in succession and had no problems with fade.

I had 30K on the stock brakes, the stock rotors were severely rusted on the inside surface even though the metallic pads had another 15K left on them. I wasn't at all happy with the rotor life on the Ford units. These ART rotors should last much longer, particularly without the metallic pads. I've had rust problems with them before, so this isn't a new phenomenon.
