Please somebody help I'm a single mother for kids and I know it's not anything that's as major as everyone's trying to tell me I had to have my car jump start it's a 2004 Ford explorer I had to have a jump start as I got a jump start the wrench light came on I had to reconnect the cables again because it was acting like they weren't connected didn't have a good enough connection once it got jumped though it sounded really rough like a lifter or a rod knocking it got me 30 miles away from home at that time my engine light started blinking it said check my gauges and then it said I had no oil shut down on me after days of not being able to get it started or any of the above I ended up having it towed home since then I've reset the PCM I think I've got my service engine light to go out and I can get it running it does run now which it was not doing at all but it still sounds like a lifter or something is knocking any idea or clues on what it could be that's making it idle so roughly and so bad too afraid to drive it in the condition it's in not sure that it would even make it anywhere but it does run at this point please somebody help

Welcome to the forum.

Having codes scanned would be best. I hate to tell you to drive it but most auto parts stores will do this free of charge.

Wish I had good news or ideas, but it really sounds like the timing chains have slipped. This is a fatal blow to a V6 explorer engine.

Sounds like your oil pump may have failed. That could lead to many catastrophic internal engine problems. It may be possible that, as Turdle said, your engine jumped time, but usually something leads up to such an event. That being said, the 4.0 v6 is an interference engine, which means that if there is a timing issue, the engine has very likely suffered catastrophic damage to the valvetrain. Either way, unfortunately, you may be due for a replacement engine. I agree with Turdle... If at all possible, have someone scan your vehicle for codes as soon as possible.
