I added a PowerTrax for my 8.8 recently. I love it!

I chose Powertrax because it was one of the few that came in an application for my limited slip carrier.

The locker is very quiet, but you do notice it around turns, not by sound though. Rather, when you gas it around a turn, you may chirp a tire or feel it engage. Nothing a little different driving doesn't take care of, and it won't make you uncomfortable driving.

You can see more details (with pictures) in my Registry Posting or in a full product review >>HERE<<

By the way, both links show my new BTF diff cover, it's a beauty if you like stark function over form!

Very cool. This is something I have been wanting to do. How do I find out if I have LSD an open diff? Price ranges?

I'm noticeing a trend around this forum

search for axel codes here ... there's a chart. The axel code is stamped on the diff and also on the door sticker ... if I remember right, LS difs have a letter in the code and open difs are just 2 digits

Nice!

I'm going to remove my rear sway bar too, probably this weekend, and see how she handles. Prior to the lift kit, it was fine

I'm going to 33's on 15x8's here in a couple of weekends.

Did you make a front disconnect? Any pictures? I need that as well.

Never made diconects for the front. Didn't want to put a penny into the front, I'm cutting it out in the next few weeks for a SAS. I'm just leaving the 33" stage.

She'll be fine with no sway bar on the rear, I ran quick disconnects for awile on the rear, but then I just got rid of them all together.

Price ranges on automatic (lunchbox) lockers vary from just around $200 for smaller lockers to about $500. Powertrax run in the 400+ range for this application.

The Powertrax Traction System is the quiet one, sometimes you see Richmond's LockRight advertised as a "PowerTrax LockRight". There is no such thing!

It's the Powertrax, and the Lockright. http://www.powertrax.com/

Like I said, I ran with no rear for a while, but a 4" suspension lift puts the center of gravity a bit high. But I'll try it out.

By the way, a bunch of the guys at Pirate4x4 want to SAS my truck. I'll wait until I break something first!

Is the first pic upside down for a reason, or were you just working while standing on your head? J/K :p

Whats the price on the BTF diff cover? I finally cracked my stock composite cover and have been looking for a replacement.

I think the btf cover is about $130-140.

Yea thats nice dude. Doesnt anyone make a diff cover with bearing supports for offroad use?

The first one isn't upside down. I was working on the axle while it was sitting on some jack stands, it wasn't in the car!

the BTF cover is $139.

Not sure why you'd have bearing supports on the cover. You'd want bearing support to be done from the housing or in the case of differentials like the Ford 9" or the Toyotas, from the 3rd member. You want it supported by a single geometry, supporting it from 2 places that have a tolerance or gap between them doesn't seem to make sense to me.

how do you fill the rear end i dont see a fill hole?

Just asking...

Most people that take muscle cars seriously get a rear end girdle. I had one for my 85 capri which cranked around 400 ponies.

Even some of us street people run girdles
