So my screen stopped working on my 2000 Eddie Bauer EX so I replaced it with a panasonic HU. Easy install took like an hour or so.

However, the sub only seems to really work when I have it on the radio. When I put it on a CD, there's like no bass at all coming from the woofer. I bought the HU from crutchfield because i like the fact that they include the harness and install kit. This HU also had the subwoofer inputs so I simply plugged the RCA into it.

Am I missing something here?

The factory Mach subwoofer receives a special signal from the Mach radio, unlike other subs. There are two signals there, one for the mute function. The OEM sub often doesn't work well using aftermarket radios and the factory sub wiring and amp. Others may have a better answer, I'd suggest running the HU sub output to the amp differently. Check those wires. Good luck,

BTW, there is someone else here needing that factory Mach radio, he has a later Ford radio that won't run his sub. FYI, the Mach radio is a pure Pioneer HU, the only thing wrong with them is the display board. They are all defective, the repair is about $60 total.

Im going to look at everything again next week and try and find out what's up. I'm thinking that it might be that the amp's not coming on when it's on CD mode. I also want to add the ipod adapter.

I may just try and bypass the factory amp and sub and just put in some new stuff back there.

That is what most people end up doing I think. I chose to keep my Mach and replace everything else. Regards,

Well, if you're sub only works on radio, are you SURE there is any bass coming out of the sub on cd (you adme it sound like there mgiht be a little bit)? I would actually turn it up high and go back there and feel if it's moving. if it isn't, you might have the power antenna and remote turn on mixed up. (the blue and blue/white wires) Sometimes they are switched, it happened to me on an older malibu and a mercedes so far. Maybe they had a bad batch of harnesses. Just try switching them, it can't hurt anything. Even if you don't have a power antenna, the radio still outputs one.

happened to me before, was in a hurry, had to get to work, got the power antenna wire mixed up with the remote wire and the amp only came on when on radio, not for cd.

that too, but sometimes the wires are switched during assmbly in the factory. So you actually have to hook up blue/white to blue, and blue to blue/white.
