Using my Google-foo I've landed here.

Very brief background:

2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Brake lights do not come on - Cab mounted brake light does come on.
Replaced brake light bulbs and checked fuses - good to go.
Google-fooed and found the the brake lights work with the steering column tilted all the way up.
Probably the multi-function switch is bad.

I haven't found any forum topics/google results on how to test the multi-function switch, only awesomely detailed instructions concerning replacement.

Does this sound like a bad MFS?
Is this switch testable?

TIA for any info and excellent forum.

Glad it worked for you! Ford could have left a little slack for the tilting column, about a nickel worth of wire.

Now, about the failed door locks, ball joints, sway bar end links, lower thermostat housings, etc. ;) Enjoy!
