I bought a ford stock NAV UNIT of ebay for my 2006 explorer, but the time will not show in the upper right hand corner, any one have any suggestions on what to do.

If it's just dashes, you need to set the time in DATE/TIME setup.

No Dashes, just blank

There aren't even any dashes in the upper-right corner, its just a blank screen. And what's even weirder, is that when I do go to Date/Time, there is no option to display time like it says in the manual. You think I should go to the dealership or wut???

have the unit 'reprogrammed' for your specific vehicle. Some Fords have a separate clock in the dash such as the Fusion SEL, therefore the clock on the Nav unit would be disabled so you wouldn't have 2 clocks.

Thanx 06EddieNav, do you know where I could do that, and how much that would cost?

Maybe it's a jumper/switch on the nav unit itself?

Does anyone one know where, and how much it costs to have a Ford Navigation Unit Reprogrammed?

it depends on where you live to get it reprogrammed. Search the threads I've seen that somebody here did it. Its about 200 bucks.

Thanx, EddieNav06, I live in Boston, I hope there is one around here. If it really is 200 bucks, I might find an external clock I can install on top of the dash.. lol

I know nothing about the Ford Nav unit but when I put mine in, I could not even get to the setup screen to set the time until I put in that PAC TR-7 to bypass the parking/ebrake wire connections. It you hooked up the brakes, isn't there a combination of break settings to get to the setup screen?

press and hold the 3 and 6 memory presets for 3 seconds, you will see a bezel diagnostics screen pop up. Press the configuration status button and you will see what your unit is programmed for. It appears these units have voice activation capabilities.

I wonder where the mic needs to be hooked up?

since its the same unit as the 07 Expedition, I would imagine its with the rear view mirror, which is where it is on th Expedition. The blank button on the steering wheel controls is for the 'voice' button.

interesting...I was wondering what the blank button was for. I really hate it...I should not have an ugly blank button on a Limited model.

Since there are quite a few people who seem to know about the nav/voice stuff let me ask this:

I just got an 07 explorer to replace my 03 (both Eddie Bauer) and I saw the Mobile ease (bluetooth phone interface) accessory they offer. I see it plugs into the factory setup, but then they show photos of a microphone stuck on the dash. I figured you would be able to use the integrated voice button with this unit. Does anyone have any experience? Maybe the seperate mic is just for car models without the mic in the rear view mirror?

I'm not positive but i think the voice button is for navigation control only. I don't think ford ever offered a built in bluetooth connection as standard or optional feature.

I just went to Dominic at ARC in Boston. He told me the reason that my nav system was not displaying time, was because it was originally programmed for a 2008 Ford Escape. Nonetheless, He programmed it for 2006 Explorers with Navigation and Audiophile Subwoofer package. He also put the option for steering wheel controls into the radio. This might be the reason why some of the guys with XLT cannot use the steering wheel controls even if they purchase them, I believe the CD/MP3 Radio, 6-In Dash, and Navigation Radio need to all be programmed to accept steering wheel controls before it is used. I am trying to purchase the steering wheel control pad right now, but I will def update to see if it works.

How much did the programming cost you ?

75, not bad at all, since Ford was asking about $200 for me to do it.
