Problem with 4X4 ligth staying on.

vehicle: 2009n Ford Explorer 4x4 XLS
Problem: The 4X4 LOW light remains on. Read through the manual but can NOT seem to find a fix or Reset. Once I had a dead battery and a friend mistakenly crossed the jumpers. That was 9 months ago. Every things seems to be ok accept for this lit 4x4 LOW switch being on. It is the lower switch in the middle of the dash. There are 3 separate switches for 4x4 Normal, High, and this one that reads 4X4 Low which remains lit up. Can anyone help me with this??

Can you still shift into 4hi?

If you can, try cycling in and out of 4hi - 4lo and see if the light will go out.

Sounds like the position switch in the transfer is stuck or the GEM (Generic Electronics Module) has lost track of what gear it is in.

You can also disconnect both battery cables for 2 minutes to reset all the electronic modules on the vehicle. Perhaps this will clear up the error.
