Problems with 2020/2021 Explorer

I am getting this for my VIN. I do have the sticker in the B pillar but just wanted to get the window sticker but looks like according to Ford, my vehicle was never built. I checked multiple times to make sure I entered the VIN correctly.

It did the same thing for me. Just guessing that when a vehicle is sold from the dealer is when it doesn't work anymore. I also tried scanning the Q code on the window sticker and it did the same thing.

Hello DSLE5403, I think what you are saying makes sense. It is only available until the vehicle shows as dealer inventory and then it is cleared once sold. Thanks for confirming that you also see the same thing.

You might want to check with your dealer. Every vehicle made should have the build sticker some where. This is what mine looks like. It is located down low on the B pillar when you open the drivers door.
It is a little difficult to read all of it but it doesn't seem that the build date is shown there.

I've been able to check my VIN for several weeks after getting the vehicle.

Upper left is Date 09/19 The date is different than the window sticker but I'm assuming that it was printed before the vehicle went out the door.

I have been driving my 2021 ST for two weeks now with absolutely no transmission shifting issues.

Unfortunately I probably drive a little more aggressively then the average driver so if issues were present its likely I would notice.

Remember most transmission issues can now be fixed with a software update, so make sure you check with dealership to get the latest software.

Hello everyone, new to the forum and was interested in getting a new explorer XLT 4wd. I had a 2014 ford fusion with 97k miles and not one issue other than the carpet started to coming up on one corner. Also a 2017 ford F250 with no issues. I decided I wanted to get an SUV and seeing the explorer was having issues with the transmission at the time I was looking for a new vehicle, I decided to pick up a 2020 Highlander few months back. Figured "Its a Toyota, it'll be reliable." Lets just say it's been a complete disaster since. Ran into problems not even 2 weeks in, and now my gas tank doesn't want to fill to full, only 3/4. Plus all the rattles and wind noise from the sun roof is annoying!

My question with the ford explorer, have the issues kind of been figured out since the 2021s are now out or are people still having transmission issues that are unsolved by ford? I see there has been recalls but I also see people are still having problems with the transmission. Were the issues happening to only certain vehicle build dates?

Any information on the issues with the ford explorers would be great.

If you really don’t have a sticker on the B pillar, you need to go back to the dealer and find out if your Explorer was wrecked and repaired. IIRC, that sticker is required by law because it lists the manufacture date, GVW, tire pressure and other information considered critical for the consumer (you). The vehicle should not have been sold without one.

Yeah, I have never had a vehicle without that sticker.

I have a 2021 Ford Explorer XLT with the sport appearance package. I bought it brand new with only 10 miles on it. It’s now three years since we bought it and I have only 13,669 miles on it. It sometimes clunks when I put it in reverse and then sometimes again when going back to drive. It jolts like it’s doing random extreme gear shifts down when driving in the 20-30 mph range. And I never know when it will act up. I’m constantly taking it to Ford to fix it! It scares me so bad it’s like an extreme game of pop goes the weasel while driving. The other day I had just gotten it back earlier that day and my husband was driving us home and it randomly brake checked us three times and chirped the tires; While his foot was on the gas pedal. So, back to Ford garage it went. Why can’t they fix it?? Also, them resetting the adaptive drive feature that learns how you drive has never worked either. And, in my Ford pass app it now only shows that my car has been serviced three times, one each year that we’ve owned it, but it’s been there WAY more than that. Once they had it for almost a month! I’m so frustrated and mad that we spent so much money on a lemon.

^^ Welcome to the Forum.
I read up on the Adaptive Learning feature, and to be honest, I don't know if I can tell whether it's working.
Regarding the other issues, I suggest that you call the Ford concierge and have them open a case file. The random braking should be reported to the NHTSA as that is a safety issue. I read a similar post yesterday where a member had it happen on a highway, causing some loss of control.
See also; Reporting Safety Defects in your manual. Should be on page 310.
