well i just wanted to know if anyone had any problems or negative effects produced by a body lift? ive heard stories or frames bending and doors not being able to close properly, or the fact that your frame is up on pegs.

All of those claims are false. How in the hell could a body lift cause a frame to bend or causing doors not to close properly. Your frame is not up on pegs, your body is up on 3" or 2" hard plastic mounts. The only draw back is body roll if you decide not to run any sway bars. I've had my body lift on for over a year and countless other memebers have had theirs for longer with no adverse effects.

yeah Blees right there are no effects because it is just replacing the stock body mounts with longer ones to make the lift. the only problem i have heard is the body mounts cracking and breaking while racing or prerunning a truck. then again not too many people do that with explorers and im guessing you wont so your safe, tighten down all the bolts and your good to go.

Pegs

I hate to point out really a stupid point BUT what do you think the body is mounted to BEFOR the Lift??

The EXACT same thing as AFTER the body lift. :p

Come on the Body is mounted exactly the same way to the frame BEFOR and AFTER the lift only thing is the EXISTING spacers on the EXISTING mounts are longer.. :D

It is ALLREADY on PEGS ( wherever that name came from I certainly dont know??) :thumbdwn:

dude thanks uve really helped me decide wht i wanted to do to my ex. but whts with ppl not wanted to stack lifts.. i have the spindles and now they dont want to do it

if it a CA based installer they wont want to install it as it lifts the COG of the vehicle and htey dont want liability... look at my truck, i beat the crap out of it and it has spindles, a bodylift and balljoint spacers (its a toyota) never had any problems... i even get it airborn in the city on railroad tracks... and landing from railroad tracks on pavement puts mroe stress on parts than landing the same jump in sand......

thats what i thought because you have body mounts in the first place and i didnt think it would make much of a difference if they were longer. you were right about the installer not wanting to do it jimabean because that is what a guy who worked at an off road shop and races class 7 trucks told me when a buddy of mine was gonna get a BL for his ranger, he said they break quite frequently. i didnt really believe him and now that you brought up the COG thats probably why he didnt want to sell and install the BL

Cog

They proably did not want to install the lift because the vehicle name was EXPLORER,, thats like a Red Flag to a bull.. Legal Liabilities for installing a lift on the "Roll Over King" on the Road.........     or should I say Upside Down on the road :)

wow your in claremont. thats close to me, im in chino. welcome to the board. as for the body lift, just make sure every thing is torqued down to specs so the bolts dont come off and ur body slides off the frame. thats no fun and i seen it happen.

nice to know i got a fellow explorer lover. we shud hit up sum trails or somthing

im guessing you dont live in the claremont in san diego if your close to chino right?

haha thts wierd bc im actually in san diego right now. and i think ur thinking about clairemont mesa. yea i live by the one in chino.

Claremont CA

Claremont would be right above my old high school, Montclair High.

So that puts Chino just below my old school.

So is it still there??

And hope you figured out if you want to do the lift.. It is worth it and you will love it after its done. If you want help my Nephew lives in Montclair still and works on cars a fair amount. I will send him your way if you like.

ok here is anotehr test of durability.... a f150 hit my toyota doing about 10-15 mph faster than i was going... my truck stopped the ford dead in its tracks, and i drove away... the bed is pretty much destroyed... the body bolts did bend, but the mounts did not break and the bolts are still in there nice and tight... jsut shifted forward......

dude that would be awesome if i could get his info. does he work at a shop or is it more of a private business?
