Hello,
I have a stock 6cd in dash changer in my 2004!
A couple of weeks ago i expirenced a clicking sound when i started my truck in the back area. After i went to turn my Music up i relized nothing was happening! I tryed turning the volume up and it was at full, i could not turn it up or down but no sound was comming out. After playing around making sure all the buttons still worked i relized a HEADSET icon sitting on the display, now we have tryed everything to remove it or find out were it came from but no luck. Catch is when i open and slam my door it with start working for a minute then it stops again. I dont know if this helps but it also is hooked up to a stock DVD player in the back....
Ford gave me a quote of 900$ to replace it, but if its broken why does it play cd's just with no sound? but something doesnt make sence and i feel im just missing something very small that can fix my problem...
Anyone PLease help

$900.00!!

Did they say it needed to be replaced? Or did you ask about a new one? My goodness! Don't throw it in the trash or anything, find out what's wrong with. They have to offer a repair service or you should be able to find one. What's the story on the conversation with Ford?

There might be about 6 fixit ideas around here, but need to know if Ford says it's broken beyond repair. Thanks!

it sounds to me like some kind of loose wire or something since it works intermittently. anyway, if you cant find a fix, i have a stock in-dash 6 cd changer from my 04 that works perfectly that i will sell you for about 1/9th of their quote they gave you.

Well i definetly did not ask for a new one. I told him the problems i was having and he told me it was more then common for this to happen and it would have to be replaced. Costs of 900$ but i think he had his mind set before he actually looked at it. The thing is it reads and plays the cd's. Just does not give me any sound. And there is also that headset icon that was never there before. When this happened it was cold like -39 and that clicking sound started when i started my vehicle to go to work.

-39 I would break too... There's a similar post here somewhere. I'll get a link if someone doesn't get it first... be right back.

That is awsome!
Thankyou

Check this link...

In this link, don't pay any attention to that Donner fella's creek comment... he is just out of his mind :D

Actually, this might be very helpful information... if it doesn't lead to a solution, you will see some good contacts there.

Well i read it and it seems great but it dousnt seem like the same issues i am having, i will definetly try what was posted i am willing to try everything. Thing is i like the 6cd player not to mention it is attached to the DVD player in the back and again the volume will not work when i put a DVD in!

check in with IAmTodd

Don and Iamtodd will have an answer for you... can't guarantee it'll be a repair, but they should be consulted.

Don't forget DMac's offer...
