Project 8" Touchscreen

This is one of the projects I am working on. I am putting Kenwood LZ800W touchscreen into the radio bezel it will be completely smooth, painted to match my truck with no push buttons or cigarette lighter. Here are a couple pics. I will do a write up when I am done.

Kenwood stopped making it a yr or so ago. Well when I started buying stuff for the project I thought it would control the Kenwood DVD player KDV-S210 which I already had, but it doesnt and this dvd player is huge. It does control just about any Kenwood navigation system and the KDV-412 single din dvd player. So I may be selling it at a later time and go touchscreen with a mini-pc or put in a docking station for my laptop instead.

my cousin ran an 8" in his dash for a while (not this unit though) in his mountaineer.

he is going with a 9.2" here soon... i couldnt convince him to go with the 17" like me, lol.

what else you have in there system wise?

i am about to start rebuilding my box and hopefully keep it below the window line, the box now is too tall. i think i can get 16 cubes without doing so.

i am getting 2 more dd 9515's and another zapco 9.0.

ditchin the optimas for a couple kinetiks.

which kinetiks? i've never used them, but my distributor just picked them up. any personal experience yet?

i've gotten around 16 cubes below the windows in the past in a 1995 xl 4 door where we ran 4 team rf 15s.

sounds like a cool project!

are you going to fill inthe bottom of that dash piece? where the screen overhangs a little? i didn't like how my old one looked too much with the 10.4" way back in the day.

i am thinking of getting 2 hc2400. kinetiks rule of thumb is the model number of the battery is good for that amount of watts. i havent had any personal experience, but it seems the be the battery of choice on the digital designs forums.

i did a test fit and it looks ok with the a/c controls there, but i might relocate those and put in a dvd player.

we have two cars here now where we are going to be running 4k and 5500k watts respectively- our plan had been to run svr as we have in the past, but the kinetiks are actually a bit cheaper unless svr will be willing to give me a sponsored deal for them as they did back in the day with my truck.

well if you go by the msrp the kinetik hc2400 is around $30 more than the svr 100-12. i wil be purchasing my batteries off ebay and i am expecting to pay around $270 per battery.

i will be home in 5 days to start taking out the old box and getting things together. hopefully within the 3 weeks i will be home i can get my box built, run more 1/0 cables and get at least one battery in until i find 2 more 15's and another zapco 9.0.

i will put it on the meter with the new box and kinetik battery to see if it helped any which it should this new box will have alot more planning.
