Pros and cons of a lifted explorer

I was just saying that if you're lifting it for offroad use, may as well lift a 4wd vehicle.

any off roading i will be doing (any time soon), the 2wd will handle easily. I love this x and am not in the financial abilities to buy another vehicle (even if i sell this one) so i am going to work with what i got. plus lifted explorers look way better.

Swap in a 4wd system. One of my friends is doing it to his 93 Sport, they just ripped out everything from our parts truck and soon its all going into his Sport.

well being that most full size trucks are much heavier than an explorer, the explorer does very well. also i may have left out that a winch can come in handy on a 2wd explorer. but none the less 2wd explorers (if you drive right) can do very well on the trails.

you you read above, i already covered the weight issue...plus a winch wasnt ever mentioned...but all in all a 4wd is gonna be a lot more capable...drive the explorer the way its meant to be driven and you shouldnt have any problems

so would you suggest not to lift a vehicle? to me the goods out weigh the bads.

No, I wasn't saying that... just understand that when things go wrong it will be harder to maintain control. Normal driving it'll be just fine, it'll be when you least expect it ie: vehicle runs off the road and you over correct trying to get it back on or you look down to answer your cell phone and look up and have to make an emergency avoidance manuever

yes that is why i said i may not have mentioned a winch. sorry about that. didnt know we were so literal on this site. and i never said that a 2wd will do everything that a 4wd does. what i did say is that it can do better than some lifted trucks. yes there is many factors in that but i was just stating something. and yes i know that a lifted 4wd truck will do better than a lifted 2wd truck. but it also depends on the driver. but as i said a lifted 2wd can do very well on the trails if you know your limits.

Ricers wrapped around telephone poles...

Driving a lifted vehicle is fine and dandy until something goes wrong and you can't retain control of the vehicle. Believe me, when it goes wrong it'll go wrong faster and worse if the vehicle is lifted.

It's about the driver, not the vehicle. A lifted vehicle is just as safe as any vehicle, it's the driver that has to understand limits and boundaries. No? :)

Yep, I'd say so.
