Hi!

Whats the best way to protect the catalysator (the one directly under the transmission)?
The way it is mounted doesn't seem do be ideal when running off road.
It is pretty much the lowest point underneath the car.

The only way I can see is to make a skid plate from the front cross member (where the towing loop is placed) all the way back to the rear mount of the transmission. That's a long long piece of sheet metal...

I am all ears for your ideas!

Best regards

To solve this on our '92 (and move the heat away from the transmission) we moved the cat back.. its next to the transfer case now... We then added 1/4" plate steel to the factory xfer case skid plate.. Now the skid plate can hold the the weight of the truck..

I'm not sure if you can get away with something like that.. besides visual inspections (if you have that) I believe you have o2 sensors after the cat. You would need to extend the wires.
