Hello, everyone. Just recently, I was looking at a friend's '03 GMC Sierra and I noticed that his headlights and reverse lights come on when he uses his remote keyless entry. What are your opinions on making this a reality in my '98 Eddie B?
I know that I'd like to have them come on when I use my Keyless Entry, but I don't want them to come on when the interior lights are on. Maybe a time delay on the locked side of the house too? Please throw some ideas at me as I haven't seen anything like this done and I couldn't find anything under the search function.

Thanks in advance,
Julian

You could do that. Run a wire from the lights you want to flash to the light flash output on the alarm. Keep in mind these will flash when your alarm goes off (how many factory alarms do that anyways). You want to run relays for them also.

EDIT: So the lights STAY ON when he uses it? You could wire that up with the dome light wire for your alarm, but they'd come on with your dome lights.

Sorry.

I'm sorry for the confusion. I want my headlights and reverse lights to STAY on just like the puddle lights do when the unlock button his pressed. I really like the time delay that they're on, however, I don't like the idea of opening the doors to exit the vehicle and the headlights and reverse lights coming on. How about also mixing it up even more and getting them to stay on instead of flashing once when the doors are locked?

Flood lights... fog lights? Yours come on when you disarm the alarm? You could wire into that circuit of the brain. That may be the same circuit as the dome light trigger.

The puddle light is the outside under mirror lights that activate to show what kind of poo you're about to step into.

Ohhhhhh, like on the Mercedes's. Well you could wire into that pertaining wire on the alarm.

That's what I was thinking, but my buddy pointed out that the lights would come on when the door was opened too. Do you think that it'd really be that big of a deal? How much of a pain do you think it'd be and where would you look to try to tap into it?

Oh yeah, your flood lights come on with the door open. Do your dome lights come on when you disarm? You could wire into that wire of the brain.

You could place a plunger switch in the doors that trips the circuit when the doors are open so that the puddle lights only trigger the headlights when the doors are closed.

Just a thought.

Lights under door mirrors and park lights with keyless entry

Small world. I just did this last night on my 96 XLT. I bought a pulse relay. ($19.99) Basically I hooked it from the power door lock relay in the driver’s side rear panel near the jack.

The pulse of power from unlocking the doors with the factory remote activates the relay for a set amount of time.

At first I had the pulse come from the drivers door lock, but not only did that turn on my park lights when I used the remote, but also when I used the unlock button on the door. So I traced it to the rear jack compartment and found a wire that is only pulsed with the remote and not with the driver’s door button.

So now when I unlock with the remote my park lights come on for about 20 seconds. My plan now is to pick up some LED's and mount them under each mirror on the doors to create the "Puddle Lights" that will stay on for the same amount of time.

I will probably use a regular relay for this connected to the wire triggered by the pulse relay.

My 02 Taurus has the puddle lights and park lights come on when you use the keyless entry so that’s where I got the idea.

door chime and park lights

also have to mention that because the park lights are one when you unlock the doors, when you open the door, the "lights left on" chime goes off.

havnt figured out out to prevent that yet. maybe Ill just pull the speaker.
