Hey, about two days ago my truck started squeaking when I start it up. When the engine is first turned on it squeaks throughout the rpm band but once it has warmed up a little bit it only squeaks at idle. It is really noticeable if I rev the engine then let it return to idle. I have some stuff about it so I am going to go and find out if it does with the belt removed or not. anyway here is a video of what it sounds like. if anyone recognizes this god awful noise I would appreciate it.

Well I took the belt off and the squeak stopped. all of the pulleys seemed fine. should i just replace the belt and see if that fixes it or should I go for the tensioner as well?

I replaced the belt and it still makes that squeak. what should I do now replace the tensioner? or the idler pulley? I could really use some help trying to decide what to try next?

mine does that occasionally, too.... my belt is less than a year old....i'm going to replace the tensioner and the idler pulley over the summer, most likely, simply because i don't know the last time either one was replaced....So, that's where I would start....maybe spray some lube on the tensioner and idler pulleys, see if that clears it up...

Yeah I tried a little wd 40 and that didn't help at all. Ill pick up some new pulleys tomorrow. Does it sound like it could be the cam shaft position sensor?

I think that the camshaft position sensor issue is mainly an issue with the 5.0's, but I've been wrong before! ;-)

Hmmmm  good to know.
