Pursuit mode

If you have the top tier plan (premiumcare), it's almost exactly the same as the original bumper to bumper. In fact they have a list what ISN'T covered as it's that comprehensive
Let's be honest - it is certainly not "almost exactly the same" as the 3/36 B2B. Lighting is extra charge as is key services and first day rental. Don't forget about the deductible per repair visit or the extra cost to reduce/waive it.

Here are examples of excluded items:
fixed (non-moving) body parts, bumpers, glass, moldings,
ornamentation, paint, rust, sheet metal, structural underbody framework,
side and rearview mirrors (glass and housing), water leaks, wind noise,
weather strips, wheels, wheel studs, wheel covers, convertible top and bow.

batteries of all types and cables,
belts, hoses, hose clamps, brakes (front hub, drums, shoes, linings, disc rotors, pads),
manual transmission clutch disc, exhaust system (includes catalytic converter), spark
plugs, squeaks, rattles, tires, wheel balancing, wheel alignment, all lamps and lights (LED
and HID lights, bulbs, sealed beam and lenses) except when purchased with New or
Incomplete PremiumCARE Interior/Exterior Lighting Option, fogging of lamp assemblies,
shock absorbers, service adjustments and cleaning, and scheduled maintenance services.

Fabric, liners, fasteners,
carpets, dash pad, wiper blades, knobs, trim, upholstery, physical damage or
cosmetic issues, repairs covered by manufacturer recalls, any insurance or if the
vehicle is within the time and mileage limits of any warranty, repairs caused by
improper unreasonable use, unauthorized alterations or modifications of the
vehicle, and repairs caused by lack of required or recommended maintenance.
Costs or expenses for the teardown, rental expense, inspection or diagnosis of
failures not covered by this Agreement. Refer to contract for details.

From reading your list of issues, I believe the only thing that is covered is the toe link recall which would be done without charge even without the ESP. I had the recall done last week.

Peter
Yep - OP should have had all of that addressed during 3/36.

I was referring to coverage of the B2B and clearly fell for the glossy brochure instead of double checking.

First day rental is available. There is a place to select that on the agreement. I don't have it with my LeaseCare ESP because I wasn't aware of its availability at the time.
It hasn't been an issue so far as the dealer has provided a loaner at no charge the 2 times it was needed.

Reading the description of Pursuit Mode sounds like Sport Mode, at least on the Fusion Sport. In Sport mode, it will hold gears around corners. During hard braking (such as coming into a corner), it will revmatch downshifts for you.

With my SHO and Explorer, Sport Mode did not have the automatic revmatched downshifts but seemed to work fine with manual downshifting. It would hold those gears around corners as long as you manually downshifted prior to entering the corner, etc...

What else is pursuit mode supposed to provide? Is this part of the TCM? It kind of seems that way.

You know, watching a Youtube video of a person demonstrating Pursuit Mode.... This sounds exactly like Performance Shift Mode on the GM/Chevy versions of our Ford transmissions.

On a Malibu LTZ w/ the 2.0 LTG GTDI, it goes into Performance Shift Mode when you drive it aggressively enough. I believe the Camaro is the same way. When this happens you get a message on the DIC that says "Performance Shift Mode", and it holds your gears while cornering, etc... everything that is done basically in Sport Mode. But in order to activate it requires driving/braking/cornering aggressively.

Ok, that explains what I thought was the transmission acting up.

I know this thread is old, but this scares me away from taking my car to the Ford dealer. I have pursuit mode programmed since I just purchased it from a Sheriff auction. Crazy they would do this without even asking, but I've seen multiple threads of people with the same story. They went into the dealer, and they reprogrammed the ECU without asking.

The way I have been taught as well as experienced using pursuit mode at work.....it adapts to how it is driven. It is hard to explain but when we push the cars at work, its done in ways you would never do to your own vehicle and will adapt to that driver over time. Enough time may have passed from when it was driven in this manner that caused it to "learn its new driver". It is also worth noting that the vehicle now has significantly less weight in it.....SIGNIFICANTLY. For ***** and giggles I wonder if throwing a crazy amount of weight in would cause it to kick in.....

I was told but never confirmed that we were able to turn it on and off using the dash options.

The first time I got to drive a patrol car with pursuit mode on it, it scared the **** out of me when it downshifted for me.....I understand the desire to use it....hope this information somehow helps!

This makes a lot of sense honestly. I don't believe there is any dash option, at least after the decommissioning of the vehicle.

I brought my PIU in for a hood replacement from the paint bubbling. Got it back and I still have Pursuit Mode enabled.

Luck of the draw, I suppose.

Prior to brining my explorer into Ford, pursuit mode would activate upon aggressive driving. Now, even with 10 min. of intentional aggressive driving pursuit mode will not activate. The vehicle was brought in to Ford for recalls. Would Ford have turned the pursuit mode off on my vehicle?
First off......Its a Ford Explorer SUV......why would you even be driving it in an aggressive manner. What are you trying to do.....you trying to outrun and out drive my grandmother in her Escalade as she pulls into the local strip mall to get her hair done? What a battle. I hope you win. The "so-called "pursuit mode" is a gimmick. My Lexus and many other other vehicles have a "pursuit mode" but this "pursuit mode" is labeled as a more realistic "Sport" or "Performance" mode. The whole P71, Police Interceptor, Hot Pursuit (Lol) thing is a gimmick.......think about it. There are no cars sold ANYWHERE in the USA which over pollute the federal EPA standards.

You're not gonna walk over to the federal government and say, I have a pursuit vehicle. Help me out.

If they did so, Thats a BIG problem! I would make a major fuss about that if my ford dealer pulled such a thing. However, I believe I have even seen the parameters on FORSCAN. I can activate and deactivate most things on there. The rest would require FDRS System which some smaller shops will have and a license for that program can be purchased for temporary use if you have the knowhow.

FYI, the member you responded to was last seen here on June 25, 2019.
This isn't the first time I've read about certain PIU features not working after work was done by a dealer. Perhaps this was an unintentional result of the work done on the vehicle by the dealer.

Thanks Peter. Yes I was aware it was a long time from the post, however I wanted to put some comment. My Ford dealer is pretty cool and they have been working along with a lot of my pre-installed police equipment and lights and other weird quirky things that normally they would not want to deal with. Mine was set up with a Feniex One system so I'm putting that back in this week and we'll see how it goes. It already has everything wired up with the OBD2 port and everything so it will integrate a lot of features of the vehicle. being a 2021 hybrid I'm trying to use all it's got you know
