I dont know a whole lot about car audio and I put a new deck in. My EB has the JBL system, by then way, if anyone knows the info about the amp and woofer I would like to know, but I can't get rid if that background noise. It is still there when I turn the vol. all the way down. I thought that might mean the wires but I was pretty sure they had good connections. ???

Did you bypass the stock amp to the 4 corners? If not, that may be the problem.

I don't know enought to know exactly what you mean, but I just connected all the speaker wires, the grd., cons. and Acc, also the amp wire. The only things not hooked up are the dimmer and power ant. I know the sub is working atleast it sounds like it is. also, where is the stock amp? I ahve the JBL system

wait,, I found out I do have the JBL option, but its a 93, so does it not have a sub, just the amp? That search had no results either. would the sub be visible or in a door or something ? ? Ive got alot to learn.

You have the JBL system with no sub. It still has an amp for the door speakers though. My 92 had the same thing. Behind the plastic wheel well in your cargo are on the passenger side there is an amp for the factory speakers. You can either disconnect this and cut and splice around it or there is a harness out there that just plugs into both the input and output leads going to the amp and bypasses it with no cutting of wires. I had one of the harnesses at one time but don't remember where i bought it. You might try circuit city/best buy some where like that. You will have to take the panel off in the back to get to this. Its nothing more than a few phillips screws, some plastic push pin things and a torx bolt for the seat belt. Bypassing this amp gives you much better SQ and more precise volume control from your HU.

thanks a lot now I understand. just reading other posts made it more complicated , a lot of people saying different things.

Best Buy will most likely lie to you and tell you that you need to replace all the wiring in your truck. I have the same problem, went to best buy & asked for an amp bipass harness. Then I was lied to and they didn't even sell me the harness even though they had them in stock... :fire: :fire: :fire: :frustrate  :thumbdwn: :thumbdwn:

Thats when you just tell them to sell you what you want and you'll worry about it later because you can guarentee that you know infinitely more about explorers than they do or probably ever will. Thats what I've told some places before that tried to tell me stuff about my truck that i knew was wrong!! :D

That did not matter. They simply would not sell me the amp bipass. They introduced some guy as an "expert" - please. Totally rediculous trying to con me into wiring my whole truck. Best Buy should be Best Con :thumbdwn: :thumbdwn: :thumbdwn: or Best Liars

thanks for the help, its been a while , I just got to college in CO, and got my computer hooked up. I got the bypass on and just got two 10's and a Rock F. amp in back :)

Every time i see the subject line, I keep thinking fuzz=police...

bypass

i have a jvc lhx500 head unit with premium speakers in my 96 sport. Before taking out the stock amp i heard all kinds of fuzz out of my back right speaker. Doing the amp bypass made such a huge difference it was amazing. I thought one of my speakers were blown but it was just the crappy stock amp.

ok well i dont have that fuzz anymore i dont think ? if i do its not noticable i have pioner speakers 6x8 4 ways rated at 240w a piece and a sony xplod head unit with 52x4 rating ? it is a great radio installed by best buy my question is when i was having it done they said i need an amp harness is this the thing u guys are talking about? and i want to replace the radio soon any suggestions? and i want to add an amp for the speakers but dont want to pay a fortune for the amp and no more then 350 for the radio any help would be appreciated thanks again .
