Did a search on this site, and even on google, didn't find much. Found Blacksheep Josh's writeup on the second gen door panels in a first gen, which I might get around to doing, but currently i'm more interested in installing a 2nd gen dash in a 1st gen truck.

I know it will probably be a lot of wiring work, but the dimensions should be the same for width. Anyone ever do this? Is it a direct bolt in for the dash itself except for the wiring? If I get enough time I can connect the 2nd gen harness to my 1st gen, but I am looking for a project to do. I think the 2nd gen dash's look better, especially with the tach on the left, and the way it looks (95 degrees from 0 - 6000 versus the 270 degree one we have.)

lots of second gen explorers at the wrecking yard I go to as well. might be a fun project.

Yes. I have done it.

check my thread 'Spdrcer34 is going V8' for pics on what was required..

It is NOT A BOLT IN. I made it a bolt in for my vehicle. But it also required A LOT of cutting and welding.
