Puzzled - Bed rails

I'm trying to take my bed rails off to paint them. I got the hooks off but the fasteners molded to the underside of the bed rails won't give at all so I can't get them off. I don't know if its my own stupidity or what but I can't get em. Anyone know of any tricks? I'd rather not have to mask off half the truck to do this simple task. Thanks

Bed "rails"? You mean the plastic bedside "caps"?

"Remove the body side outer moulding.

Start at the front inside and roll the moulding to the outside to release the moulding."

Yes Sorry caps. Not rails.

As the manual states, just roll them to the outside. the very rear tab is a PITA though and sometimes doesn't survive the separation.
