I'd like to say howdy to yall. Wife recently purchased a 2000 Explorer 4 door and cruise control wasn't added to this car  My question is can cruise control be added to an otherwise non cc explorer? Can I purchase from a junk yard all thats needed and add it on ? Has anyone ever done this ? and what would be the difficulty factor between 1-10. Also where is the cc on these vehicles anyway ?

Thanx

Welcome to the site

You' re in luck. You can buy a kit from Ford to add cruise to your Explorer. I paid $265 for mine when I bought it a couple of years ago. A dealer quoted a price of $150 to install it, but I did the work myself. It took about four hours for me to install. Come to find out (later, unfortunately) the wiring was already there from the factory, and the install could have been even easier if I had realized that. Instead, I used the wiring harnesses that came with the kit. All in all, it was a pretty straightforward installation

Dead Link Removed a link to a discussion I had with another forum member that goes into greater detail, You would need to verify the part number since mine is a '99, and a OHV. The part number is probably different for the SOHC.
