I need to find a inexpensive brush guard for my 94 explorer it would be a plus if it could hold a winch bumper. I was also looking for a set of replacements seats and would really like to find leather first gen ones but cant seem to find them.

So I guess my question is.... where or who sells a good winch bumper/brush guard, and is there any seats that anyone could recommend that could easily replace my stock ones? I use this rig as my DD but also like to use it as a weekend warrior so far it has done well in each aspect its gotta be one of the best 4x4's ive ever owned.

thanks all.

As far as seats, a junkyard would probably be your best bet. Seats from other vehicles will work in your truck. Most Rangers, bronco 2s and explorers, from about 87-2001 had very similar seat designs although the trim and patterns were different. You can take most seats from any 91-01 explorer and they will pretty much bolt in. You might have to transfer tracks, but it should work for the most part.

As far as a winch bumper, cheap most often means not strong enough for a winch. Not to say people have not built them with whats laying around and a little time welding.

If you have those abilities then go for it, but If your looking to buy, then you will have to fork some cash for something worth using. Mine cost about $400 shipped from James Duff enterprises back in 2002.

i was able to find a set of leather ones from a junk yard locally he wants 120 for the set front and back if i pull them.

i also found another set about 2 hours away who wants 40 a piece for front and 75 for the rear already pulled.
these are from first gen explorers.

I also found roof racks from both places for 50 a piece. do i half to have a stalk roof rack on there to be able to put on an off-road cargo rack? my explorer is rack less.

I will also look into newer explorer seats then since i only thought that first gen would fit first gen. do the back seats fit newer ones as well?

thanks

My advice is to dump the leather. The "leather" in these truck are POS's. Your far better off with cloth. Especially if your wheeling. They wear out & look horrible when they do.
Almost any seat from a Ford truck & mustangs will fit if you use your original seat tracks. You may have to drill new mounting holes in the track for the bolt holes to line up though. Also do you have power seats? If not that function will not work if the replacements have power. You'll have to wire them. If you do have power then you also will need to rewire & figure out the correct wires to use.
I haven't looked in a few years but I thought no one made a 1st gen winch bumper any longer. May be wrong, call James duff they deal with that & may have something that will work. But it's $$.

Any other seats that don't cost an arm and a leg that you guys would recommend? i was also looking into maybe a set of "racing" type seats but not sure what those would be like.

A factory type roof rack can be made to fit your truck. There are nut-serts in the roof of the trucks that came with racks, yours will not have these. Also the runners in the center of the roof were riveted in place. You will need rivets and a rivet gun to install those.

You could drill a hole in the roof and back the bolts with nuts from inside the vehicle, but this will require extensive dis-assembly of the interior of your truck. If you do this, seal the bolt threads and the hole with silicone so water does not get in.

Geez your junk yards suck about as bad as mine with the prices. You local one has best price of what you stated.

ranger, bronco 2, explorers, mustang... pretty much your options. BUT you MAY have to swap seat tracks over so the bolt holes line up, or you may have to drill new holes in the seat track as described above.

If you just gotta have leather, look at the 2nd gen explorers (95-01) the leather quality was much better.

Is there any easier way to get one up there :D??? I doubt i could rivet the thing well enough.

Rivets can almost always be replaced by nuts and bolts :) Just seal it well!
