I've done a search but nothing came up fitting what I am looking for.

I wish to lower my '05 Explorer XLT 4x4 with the 4.0 engine.

I do not wish to slam it, I am looking for about a 2" drop. The look I am going for is similar to the Trailblazer SS.

Which kits are the best and most comprehensive and will retain the smooth ride of my Explorer.

Also what is the widest tire and wheel combo I can mount while keeping the tires whithin the wheel wells (at a 25mm/5.96" backspaceing) and not interfere with the suspension.

TIA

I am right there with you but my Ex is a 2006 and I can't find anything for a 4x4...I can find tons of stuff for a 2WD

Ground Force makes lowering springs for your truck. Part number 9926. Claims it lower's the Explorer 1.6 in. They retail for about $200, available through Summit racing.

Summit racing also sells ford lowering springs.

just wondering, why are you lowering a 4x4? 4x4 is not common here in So Cal, so most people buy a 4x4 speciffically for offroading. thats why im wondering. not into offroading?

Nothing wrong with not having an interest for off roading X.

I wanted a AWD for the added traction benefits. I am going to set up my truck similar to the Trailblazer SS which is also available as an AWD.

i know there is nothign wrong with it... i was just wondering.

I'm trying to do the same thing to my x. Isnt it true that if you only get the lowering springs and dont get the new type of struts to go with the springs that something is going to go horribly wrong.
